Spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce’ Statement on China’s Adjustment of Some Textile Export Tariffs

  On May 20, 2005, Customs Tariffs Committee of the State Council made the decision to adjust tariff rates of some textile clothing products as of June 1, 2005. Among these products, started export tariff imposition since January 1, 2005, tariffs of 2 categories shall be ceased, tariffs of 3 categorie
s shall be decreased, higher tariffs shall apply to 74 categories, and 1 category shall start tariff imposition.
  
  According to spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce Chong Quan, Customs Tariffs Committee of the State Council made prudent investigation and data analysis for this move, so as to further optimize China’s textile industrial structure, accelerate the transition of China’s export growth mode, saf
eguard interests of China’s textile enterprises from textile integration, and promote a comprehensive, harmonious and sustainable development of the textile industry. Meanwhile, this is an initiative measure of China to prevent any damage of justice or freedom of international trade environment. Wh
