A comprehensive program covering all aspects of marine natural product discovery, development and utilisation has been prepared, with an outstanding selection of Plenary, Invited and Keynote speakers having agreed to participate. The conference program has been organised around six themes.
The first theme will be DISCOVERY (including methodology) with a Plenary lecture given by Ray Andersen, followed by a series of Invited lectures from Valerie Bernan, Ron Crouch, Kirk Gustafson, Jun’ichi Kobayashi, Ted Molinski, Ron Quinn and Vassilios Roussis.
A session on SOUTHERN OCEANS will be highlighted by a Plenary lecture to be given by Dennis Gordon, with Invited lectures from Chris Battershill, Roberto Berlinck, Rob Capon and Mike Davies-Coleman.
Recent work on the GENOMICS of marine organisms will be presented in a Plenary lecture by Brad Moore and Invited lectures by Gabi König, Joern Piel and Eric Schmidt.
A Plenary lecture from Nobuhiro Fusetani will open a session on ENVIRONMENTAL (including ecological and marine toxin) investigations, with Invited lectures from Angelo Fontana, Margo Haygood, Russell Hill and Russell Kerr.
The session on the DEVELOPMENT of marine natural products through synthesis, pharmacological studies and nutraceutical investigations, will be commenced with a Plenary lecture from Chris Ireland, and then Invited lectures from Colin Barrow, Jeff de Brabander and Andy Phillips.
The final session, NEW FRONTIERS, has a Plenary lecture from Jon Clardy, Invited lectures from Bill Gerwick and Amos Smith III, and the conference closes with the Keynote address from Bill Fenical.
There will be an emphasis on the participation of young researchers and students, with reduced fees for students and sponsored student prizes.
