“China Petroleum and Chemical Corp., or Sinopec, has finalized the terminus of a planned natural gas pipeline originating from southwestern Sichuan Province to Shanghai to ease a serious energy shortfall in the eastern commercial hub” (industry official commented)
“Russian President Vladimir Putin has said a pipeline carrying Siberian oil could be built through China. If a deal goes ahead with Beijing, the pipeline will bring 600,000 barrlels of oil daily from eastern Siberia to north-eastern China” (BBC News,22March2006)
“Chinese planners have approved construction of a multibillion-dollar pipeline to carry gas imported from Turkmenistan in Central Asia to the country's southern business center of Guangzhou” (boston.com world news). “The project would double the capacity of an existing pipeline that carries gas from the Xinjiang region of China's Northwest to Shanghai on the east coast”.
