Natural Gas was introduced to the Egyptian local market in 1975 when the first natural gas field 揂bu Madi? was put on stream, since then a remarkable progress has been achieved.
*Proven gas reserves is excess than 66TCF.
*Cumulative gas production till 12//2004 is 15 TCF.
*Gas consumption is around 47.13 billions cubic meter from July 2003 till December 2004 representing about 50%
of the primary energy consumption in the country, supporting the sustained development which is leading to a steady
growth of demand on the primary energy.
*Condensate, LPG, Propane and ethane are extracted from gas stream as indicated.
Of course, the success in gasifying the country was not an easy task to achieve, but it involved a lot of concerted efforts and planning.
The Egyptian gas industry is willing and determined to cooperate with business partners in the upstream activities, to make use of technology advances and industry trends, and to coordinate with gas markets, in order to effectively participate in global gas industry.
